Back in the late 1880s, there was massive slaughtering of bison. (This is from the National Park Service’s archive.) Can you imagine if these were golden retriever, horse or cat skulls? You can only imagine the outcry. Yet here’s this guy, proudly posing by them.
Then there’s this one:
So much hatred for wildlife. So much hatred of the Buffalo!
I looked at these and remembered similar photos from Germany and Poland — only then it was people.
What is wrong with everyone?

I have only a couple of things…First is to wish – one is for Eight Belles to be running with Barbaro forever in the fields and meadows of the universe!
My other question is why aren’t the front legs wrapped for additional support like the back ones were.
Third…a poignant thought and dedication…listen to the Scottish Ballad “Wild Mountain Thyme” and imagine Eight Belles running in the mountain meadows with her herd.
I have only sadness and a great compassion for the loss of this angel taken before her time in the height of her joy of life.
